Shiny objects, color and reflections of light visually inspire me. Natural gemstones, sterling silver and other metals become the elements of my palette. My jewelry designs go from geometric to free flowing being inspired by the movement of the world around me. The jewelry that I create comes from a need to express myself with art and fine craftsmanship.
As a trained silver and goldsmith, I am using traditional jewelry techniques with nontraditional methods and materials allowing me to create new and exciting pieces. Combining fabrication and metal clay is one of the techniques I am using. Metal Clay is a clay like material consisting of metal particles with a binder that is burned off when fired in a kiln, forming a solid metal that can be shaped filed and finished like most cast jewelry.
My hope is to continue to expand in my knowledge of metalsmithing and create works of wearable art that everyone can enjoy.
