Debra Orlean has lived in Oregon for over 30 years after relocating from Ohio. She started using a camera at a young age and loved to capture all of the beauty around her ranging from flowers to landscapes.
Her photography is typified by the theme chosen for her business card “Natural Reflections”. She is passionate about nature and is lucky enough to live on the Tualatin River where wildlife abounds including herons, bald eagles, ospreys, beaver, songbirds and Pacific treefrogs. For several years, Debra was captivated by the adorable frogs and was able to photograph them in flowers and on tree branches. One of her frog photographs was used for an advertisement for Thames Water’s Australian Environmental Directory.
Debra has won awards from Tigard’s Affair of the Arts, Lake Oswego’s Festival of the Arts, and the Rose Society’s Photography Contest. Xerox Corporation also purchased her photographs for their 2006 and 2007 calendars. Additionally, Debra was welcomed onto the 123RF.com stock international photo library where more of her images can be seen. She also has photographs displayed on Fine Art America’s website which boasts over 1 million international visitors per month and was selected to submit photographs with Beaverton’s Forms & Filing Company which sells reminder cards to healthcare offices. Twenty of her images are used on their cards.
Living in the Pacific Northwest has provided Debra with the opportunity to frequent the abundance of gardens, parks, and natural areas and enjoy her pursuit of photography. I can hardly drive anywhere in the fall with all of the gorgeous trees and not pull over when I see a magical scene. It’s very exciting to me when the seasonal changes create the incredible lighting outside and warrants stopping so I can capture the beauty.
