My earliest recollection of myself and art is being fascinated with coloring, and all those choices of colors in a 64 box of color crayons… so many colors and choices. I really didn’t want to use them, but just look at them. Coloring books were set aside as I grew up, and then moving onto ceramics, sketching, and oil painting. As I grew up, married, had children, my art was set aside until around 2003.
My husband, Kevin, and I became acquainted with sublimation printing – which is the transfer of a photo or scanned artwork onto many different products (ceramic, metal, glass, fabric, etc.). We bought the coursework, training, and equipment to start a side business…that led into digital photography!! I fell in love with digital photography, and the instant gratification of seeing the results! I’ve been serious about taking photos since that time, which led into partnering with my friend of thirty years, Dorothy Sherman. We began a new business, Artistry in Cards & Prints, in 2014, and have been learning many different aspects of this business…Three Rivers Artists Guild has been a huge help for us.
I also created another side business, Artisan Herbs, in 2012. This grew from the passion of learning about herbs and my fascination with making melt & pour soaps. My soaps are made from some amazing artistic soap molds, with my secret recipes of herbal and decorative soaps. This business continues to grow each year, and I never tire of creating and making soaps. I have a shop on Etsy at www.etsy.com/shop/ArtisanHerbs where one can view about half of my regular soap offerings!
