Marlynn Rust is a true native Oregonian and has lived there her entire life. At an early age she began her interest in photography. She traveled extensively around the world capturing the beauty overseas, but found her home state has such incredible beauty that she is staying closer to home and exploring old and new places. She has discovered that capturing that near perfect image is mostly a matter of being at the right place at the right time. It helps to plan ahead to be at that right place during the golden hours just before sunrise and sunset to catch that soft light.
I enjoy being outdoors and experimenting with my cameras using natural light as it is very rare that I use a flash for any of my work. Cameras have come a long way in making it fun, and yet challenging, to understand and work with the various settings. My biggest challenge is to capture an image where the camera does all the work so very minimal post-processing is needed to create the image the way I saw it. I prefer to spend my time out in the field taking photographs rather than sitting in front of a computer manipulating images.
I continue to learn and be challenging in my work. I am forever thankful to be able to share my work and see the joy in other people’s eyes when they share stories with me after purchasing one of my images. Sharing and appreciation of art can’t get any better.
