Application Deadline: May 1, 2022

Description:

The 20th Around Oregon Annual exhibit, honoring the quality and diversity in creative expression being produced throughout Oregon, is open to artists living or working in all parts of the State. The Around Oregon Annual exhibition also recognizes and encourages excellence by awarding cash prizes, thoughtfully selected from the actual work. Our goal is to share the voices of all artists together: from the young and upcoming, as well as mid-career and established artists.

Juror:  Mario Mesquita, Manager of Advocacy and Engagement of the Regional Arts and Culture Council (RACC). Bilingual, bicultural and mission driven, Mario has a special interest in shaping and delivering positive cultural shifts throughout the arts. He is an arts educator, artist and social justice supporter. He served as a panel member on the Americans for the Arts conference (2018), on the California Arts Council grant panel and worked with the city of Santa Monica as an invited artist.

We encourage a diverse selection of artists to apply, including artists from historically excluded communities including (but not limited to): artists from rural communities, emerging artists, artists from communities of color, LGBTQ+, artists who are self-taught, and artists new to creating artwork. We welcome artists regardless of citizenship status, familial status, race, gender identity or expression, religious observance, sex, sexual orientation, and sources or level of income.

Method of entry: Use the Entry Form Below to upload images and information. Virtual/Digital submissions may be submitted by providing a link, sending a USB-stick or CD to Curator Hester Coucke.

If you need accommodations to support your submission, please contact Hester@theartscenter.net.

Survey for the TRAG Membership

Hello TRAG Members!!  We, your TRAG board members REALLY need your input!  Not being able to meet in person for two years has taken a toll on our art guild.  Overall, I think we’ve done a fairly good job keeping things going for two years, but still…..we’ve taken a hit.  Our membership numbers are down.  We are not alone in this….many organizations have been affected, and some have even folded.  We certainly are hoping that TRAG will continue and flourish in the coming year(s).  This, however, depends a great deal on participation of the membership.  This is one way that you can participate and have a say in how we move forward as a guild.  We’re hoping this will be an exciting time of “re-imagining” the guild as we begin to gather together again.  Previous surveys have only generated around 4 or 5 people responding.  My hope is that we get at least 50% of members responding.  Will you be one of those?  I sure hope so!  Thanks, in advance, for participating.

Tamara Scott
TRAG President

April 11th, 2022 In-person Guild Meeting: nests using found and recycled materials with Susan Schenk

Have we got some fun for you at the next Guild meeting!  Susan Schenk is going to get our creative juices flowing!  After our short business portion of the evening, Susan is going to teach us to make beautiful handmade nests using found and recycled materials. Not only will you take your little treasure home with you, but you will have a new skill as well.

Please join us on April 11th at a NEW TIME- 6-7:30 pm.

We are going to be trying different times to see what works the best for the most people. The board hopes to see you there and optional masks are welcome and encouraged for those who want. YOU make the Guild what it is, and we need members to attend and help shape the direction of our Guild. Invite other creatives you know to check us out and invite them to attend a meeting with you…

See you on the 11th!

Rhoda Bohr, VP
