The SWA Spring Show is a professionally judged, non juried show and sale representing a wide variety of art media and disciplines. It features over $1600 in cash prizes in 6 judged categories, sponsor selected awards and a Peoples’s Choice award. Karen Madsen, Artstra Board Chair, serves as judge for this exhibition. Eligibility

  • Open to all artists 18 & older.
  • Original work only: no copies, classwork or collaborations. No reproductions of originals or copyrighted images.
  • Art must not have been previously entered in a SWA show.
  • Art must be appropriate for public spaces.
  • Show committee reserves the right to determine whether art meets the show or category requirements.

Registration / Entry

  • Open to all artists 18 & older.
  • Artists may enter up to 3 works of art.
  • Art must be dry and ready to hang with wire that is at least 2 inches below the top. No saw tooth hangers or clips. Art not properly wired may be rejected.
  • Maximum within 36” and a maximum height is 36” for hanging art. Larger pieces are displayed on easels. Large pieces incur an additional fee and are limited to one per artist, as space allows.
  • Weight limits: 2D—not to exceed 20 lbs. 3D—not to exceed 40 lbs.
  • Registration closes on April 17, or when 200 pieces of art are registered.
  • Registration will be invoiced via PayPal and is due upon receipt. Registrations not paid by April 17 will be void.

The GLEAN Program invites artists to push the boundaries of material exploration. With the opportunity /challenge of gathering materials from the Metro Central Transfer Station, (aka, “the dump”), the five selected GLEAN artists will broaden their practice in truly unpredictable ways. There is still time to submit your application. If you are interested in applying to the GLEAN program act now! 

The GLEAN art program lasts five months and provides each artist with a $2,000 stipend to support their practice. One of the five spots is reserved for a current student. Artists also receive studio visits, marketing support, seemingly endless materials to work with, and a final exhibition in Fall 2020 at Disjecta Contemporary Art Center. This is an amazing opportunity, don’t wait to apply!

Women’s Heritage Figures – Call for Artists!

Did you know that this year 2020 celebrates the 100th anniversary of Oregon’s ratification of Amendment 19 which placed women’s voting rights in the Constitution? TRAG has been asked to participate in a year long celebration celebrating women’s rights over the past 100 years. Clackamas County Heritage Council, CCHC, recently asked the Guild to create ten 5-foot cut out figures that depict women’s rights since the mid 1850’s.

These will have a cut out for the face so that the public can take pictures of themselves inside them. Think of the Suffragettes of the 1800’s, Rosie the Riveter from the 1940’s, the bra-burning hippies from the 1960’s, and the #metoo women’s march just 2 years ago. These are only some of the ideas we will be presenting to our artists and participating sponsors.

They will be installed in various places around town, and will receive recognition and exposure through social media, newspapers, and a possible “scavenger hunt”. Artists will be compensated for their work in creating the figures.

Thanks to all who volunteered for this project. Originally 8 TRAG artists were going to create historical figures depicting women’s rights to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Women Suffragette movement. Each figure was to be a life-size cutout which the public could take a photo opportunity with. They were to be installed at the Heritage sites and various businesses in Oregon City. However, when the pandemic hit, the plans were put aside.
 
A virtual meeting with the Clackamas County Heritage Council was held on April 15th. Possibilities were discussed to either postpone or continue by a different method. Ideas were considered such as an application like Jib Jab where the public can superimpose their faces onto virtual figures and/or the distribution of coloring books. A second meeting took place just this past week, and it was decided to decrease the number of heritage figures from 8 to 2. These will be installed at 2818 NE 10th Ave in Portland from May 16-30th during the “Parading in Place” event sponsored by the Rose Festival. Earth Day Network’s new initiative, Artists for the Earth™, is inviting artists and arts organizations around the globe to join with Earth Day 2020 and the 50th Anniversary by featuring their work on our pages.

Call for artists: 6x6x2020

6×6 returns for the 13th year

Last year you helped us create an international exhibition of over 5,000 artworks! We are reaching out in hopes that you will participate and help us promote 6×6 to your community.

6×6 is an international phenomenon of thousands of artworks from all over the world and it’s completely free to enter. Simply fill out an entry form and mail, or deliver your 6-inch by 6-inch artwork to Rochester Contemporary Art Center by April 11 or postmarked April 10.

6×6 is hosted by Rochester Contemporary Art Center (RoCo), a small, non-profit art center in Rochester, NY! This annual exhibition, raises critical funds needed to pay artists, maintain our building and administer contemporary art programming. You can enter up to three artworks to be a part of this amazing project and support our mission.

Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts – 57th Year
Show Dates: June 26, 27, and 28, 2020

You are Not a Robot” takes a positive, humorous, honest, and unflinching look at ourselves as humans. This exhibit examines humanity’s emotional logical, bringing together artwork and projects that reflect the familiar complexities of life; asking questions with no definitive answer. As we bravely navigate our daily lives, we are keenly aware of the risks we take. Still, we venture forth with optimism that we will make the best decisions we can based on information from our complex personal and social experiences. Our logical calculations include the incalculable, such as emotions, beliefs, ethics, traumas, joys, love, legacy, loyalty, and longing. All personal truths are valid, as chance has brought us together in this moment from our different paths. “You are Not a Robot” is an exhibition focused on examining trust in one’s perception and building a dialogue towards broader understanding and inclusivity.

This exhibition will take place in conjunction with the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts, at the Lakewood Center for the Arts inside a converted dance studio on the top floor. Artworks will be displayed on white temporary walls arranged throughout the space. The gallery will be open and monitored for the duration of the festival.

ELIGIBILITY

Works Eligible: Open to Oregon artists

  • Two-dimensional work in any medium is eligible as long as it’s smaller than 72 inches (height) x 72 inches (width) and can be displayed on the temporary walls, and must include horizontal picture hanging hardware installed on the back of the artwork.
  • Three-dimensional pieces are eligible as long as they are smaller than 7 feet (height) x 48 inches (width) x 36 inches (depth) Oddly composed 3D art, the artist must provide the appropriate sculpture stand for their presentation.
  • Wall-hung artwork must be display ready, either framed or mounted and must include horizontal picture hanging hardware installed on the back of the artwork (no zigzag sawtooth hardware).

*Please note: curators will not construct any hanging devices. Work must be delivered ready to hang on a wall or stand up on a pedestal.

ENTRIES

A maximum of 10 works may be submitted per artist. Entries must be received no later than the Application deadline. You are Not a Robot juried exhibit reserves the right to decline any accepted artwork upon delivery if the condition or quality is other than represented in the electronic entry.

Artists whose work is not accepted for inclusion in You are Not a Robot may choose to participate in the Festival Open Show. For information about the Open Show, refer to Open Show Call to Artists.

This call for art will be reviewed and curators by Art in Oregon (AiO); co-founders and artists, Owen Premore and Tammy Jo Wilson. AiO fully embraces the philosophy and goals of the Festival of the Arts. Artists will be selected based on adherence to the stated theme, originality, personal voice, and technical skill.

SALES

All artwork submitted must be for sale. The price shall be at the discretion of the artist. A 40% commission from all sales will be retained by the Festival. Prices assigned by the artist must include the Festival commission. All commission proceeds benefit the Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts, a nonprofit organization.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Artists must complete an online application with an accurate email that will be valid throughout the process and through the show dates. This email address will be used to notify you of your status. Notification of accepted or declined status will be emailed to the email address you use in the application process. Please check your application email inbox for all correspondence.

Your application must include:

  • Detailed information about each submitted artwork, including medium and dimensions.
  • Up to 10 images emailed to connect@artinoregon.org
  • Payment of the $15.00 application fee

DELIVERY OF ARTWORK

Unless alternative arrangements have been confirmed with the curator, Artists must deliver their work personally to the Lakewood Center, 368 S State Street, Lake Oswego, OR, 97034 on:

  • June 10, Wednesday 4-6pm & June 11, Thursday, 11am-1pm, 2020

Should the work not be sold, artists are responsible for picking up their artworks. Details for delivery and pick up will be included with the contract following your acceptance to the exhibit. Artwork pickup times are as follow:

  • Sunday, June 28th of 2020, 6:00pm – 6:30pm
  • Monday, June 29th of 2020, 11:00am – 1:00pm

Call for Artists: 2020 Oregon City Festival of the Arts

For the fifth year, the Three Rivers Artist Guild is presenting an arts, culture and heritage event known as the Oregon City Festival of the Arts (OCFOTA) on August 8 and 9, 2020. The Festival will again be held at the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive & Visitor Information Center located at 1726 Washington Street, Oregon City, OR 97045. Hours of Operation are 10-5 each day. OCFOTA draws an attendance of 2500-3000 throughout the weekend.

As artists and community leaders, our mission is to encourage and support all forms of art in Oregon City and Clackamas County. The goal of the event is to promote visual and performing artists, the heritage community, tourism groups and local food and beverage vendors to create a unique community event. This event is free to the public.

This is a juried art show open to residents of Oregon and Washington State. A nonrefundable $20 jury fee application is due no later than April 15, 2020.

If accepted, the booth fee is $135. This includes your booth space (10’ x 10’) and marketing for the Oregon City Festival of the Arts.

Please note: This is an outdoor event on the grass. Although we make every effort to find the most level and suitable booth spaces, not all locations are perfectly flat. Also, there is no power available for the booths. Please note, we periodically experience inclement weather. The ground may be wet. Please be prepared for potential showers or wind.

No more than two artists may share a booth and art must be compatible. Both must be juried in and send in separate applications and jury fees. You will share the booth fee of $135.

Important Dates to remember:

  • April 15, 2020: Jury fee and application due date.
  • May 1, 2020: Jury results sent to artists.
  • June 30, 2020: $135 booth payments due.
  • August 7, 2020: Friday Festival set-up
  • August 8 and 9, 2020: Oregon City Festival of the Arts

Just a note: Each year we conduct an artists’ survey after the show. We take this feedback very seriously. As a result, we will be reaching out to different guilds to make the genres more balanced and include more disciplines. This means that the jurying process will be more competitive.

Call for Artists – Student Art Show at The Spiral Gallery

Dear Artist,

The Spiral Gallery is pleased to once again announce our annual Student Art Show.  This event will take place in January 2020 and is an opportunity to showcase local artists of all ages (young and old) who are currently enrolled in school or an arts class or is just a student of life.  Home-schooled children are also welcome, of course. If you have artwork you would like to submit, please review the following information:

  • All work must be for sale with a 30% commission going to the gallery.
  • 2-D work (work that is hung on a wall) must be framed and ready to hang (with wires for hanging in the back).  Framing is responsibility of the artist.  Pedestals will be provided for 3-D artwork.  The local Artsmith in Estacada is a great place to get those supplies or have them do it for you.
  • Students may enter more than one piece, but the gallery will decide what is to hang depending on space available.
  • Work must remain in the gallery for the entire show month.  Work must be delivered to the gallery for display – without exception – no later than December 27, 2019

An opening reception will be held as usual for the 1st Friday of the month (January 3, 2020).  Refreshments and goodies will be served.  Students and families are encouraged to attend this fun community event!

Items can be dropped off – starting now – space is limited to the gallery show room, so good to bring art early.
