We are pleased to announce the jury process for the 2017 Oregon City Festival of the Arts is completed. Over 60 artists were juried for the festival. This year we’ll be welcoming back several artists from 2016 and some exciting new artists for the 2017 Festival.
Entertainment for the show is already booked with some very special guests. We start the Festival off Saturday morning at 10am with the Seymour Baker Band – local musicians from Oregon City. Following at noon we are thrilled to welcome the Portland Opera Al a Cart for two performances. From their website, “Inspired by Portland’s food cart culture, Opera a la Cart is Portland Opera’s new mobile performance venue that will bring opera directly to the community in pop-up performances.” Oregon City is honored to be one of the first festivals to host the Opera Al a Cart. We’ll be ending the day with Oregon City’s own, Willamette Falls Symphony, brought back by popular demand. Sunday we’ll be featuring the Seymour Baker Band for a second performance, Big Yellow Taxi, Booligh Jam, and closing out the festival on Sunday will be Oregon City’s very own Award Winning Jazz and Blues singer Rae Gordon.
Festival guests will not go hungry for the weekend. Big Red Tents will be back with brats, burgers and caramel corn. Top o’ Hill joins us with Salmon sliders and Bison Burgers, and I think last year everyone enjoyed watching their ice cream treats being produced by SubZero. Voodoo Donuts will be bringing their treats on Sunday only.
Festival organizers are reaching out to the community for volunteers to assist with various jobs throughout the weekend. Some positions needed to fill are booth-sitting, greeting visitors, taking surveys, distributing refreshments to artists, festival set up and take down, and children’s art assistance. If you are looking for a fun opportunity to volunteer, please contact Lynda at firstname.lastname@example.org.
