April 11th, 2022 In-person Guild Meeting: Nests Using Found and Recycled Materials with Susan Schenk
Have we got some fun for you at the next Guild meeting! Susan Schenk is going to get our creative juices flowing! After our short business portion of the evening, Susan is going to teach us to make beautiful handmade nests using found and recycled materials. Not only will you take your little treasure home with you, but you will have a new skill as well.
Please join us on April 11th at a NEW TIME- 6-7:30 pm.
We are going to be trying different times to see what works the best for the most people. The board hopes to see you there and optional masks are welcome and encouraged for those who want. YOU make the Guild what it is, and we need members to attend and help shape the direction of our Guild. Invite other creatives you know to check us out and invite them to attend a meeting with you…

March 14th, 2022 In-person Guild Meeting: Reconnecting and Imagining the Future of TRAG
Our first in-person meeting in 2 years (!) will be on March 14th! We will be meeting in the basement conference room at the Pioneer Center in Oregon City from 7-8:30 pm. We will have a very brief business meeting starting at 7 pm and the rest of the time will be socialization! It will be great to reconnect with everyone. During the socialization time, we will have large post-it note paper around the room with space to write your wishes and dreams for Three Rivers Artist Guild moving forward. The board eagerly awaits your input to give us direction for this year. Hope to see many of you there! Masks (worn over both your mouth AND nose) will be required during the entirety of the meeting time.

February 2022 President’s Message
| Dear TRAG Members, Happy February! Hope everyone has enjoyed our unusually sunny weather over the past couple of weeks! I am a lucky lady and will be spending 2/3-2/11 (maybe longer?) in Hawaii! I’m looking forward to the warmth and the sun and swimming with sea turtles. We had our first Board meeting on January 20th and I want to give you an update on what’s to come for TRAG this year. First, I’d like to thank all of you who responded to the questionnaire about the meeting in January and your thoughts on proof of vaccination for meetings. It is so helpful to get input from the membership when trying to make decisions about how to move forward. As you all know, we did cancel the meeting in January due to the very high Covid numbers in Oregon. As a board, we have decided to cancel the February meeting as well and are VERY hopeful that we will, indeed, meet IN PERSON on March 14th! The results of the survey regarding proof of vaccination were: Yes-17; No-12; Maybe-5. The Board discussed this and since it was not an overwhelming YES, we will not require proof of vaccination for meetings, but will require that everyone at the meeting wear a mask and that it is properly worn over the mouth AND nose. We just want everyone to be safe, and we want to meet in person again. As you all know, Trieste Andrews (our immediate past president) has stepped down from coordinating the Oregon City Festival of the Arts (OCFOTA). (It is a well-deserved break!) I’m happy to announce that OCFOTA is on for this year! We have a wonderful trio of women (Jen Henry, Lynda Orzen, & Tima Carlson) who will be coordinating the event this year along with the many dedicated volunteers from years past. OCFOTA is a wonderful event for our organization as well as for the community and we are so happy that it will continue this year. We are also happy to let you know that it looks like we will be able to have a Spring Fling event at the Oregon City Golf Course on Mother’s Day weekend. We are tentatively scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 6 & 7—that way artists can be with their family on Mother’s Day if that is something you celebrate. It would be and early morning set up on Friday and we’d open for business from 12 pm – 5 pm. Saturday hours would be 10 am – 5 pm. It looks like we’ll have room for 25 artists. The Call for Artists will go out soon with a link to an application. Many thanks to Lynda Orzen for helping to coordinate this and other upcoming events where our artists will be able to sell their work. That is a good segue into the topic of our TRAG Gallery. As you all are aware, we had to close the gallery around August of last year. This was a very tough decision for the TRAG Board and Gallery Managers to make, as we know how important it is for our artists to have an opportunity to display and sell their work in a gallery. However, it just wasn’t feasible to keep it open any longer given the significant decrease in sales and foot traffic. We, of course, are not alone—-many businesses have had to close due to the pandemic. Our landlords at Singer Hill were so gracious and let us continue to store our “stuff” in the gallery space with the hope that we would be able to reopen at some point, however, we received notice in later October that we would need to have all our things out of the gallery space by the end of November 2021 due to them remodeling the space. At our Board meeting in January, after much discussion, we decided that we need to wait for at least a year before we entertain the prospect of finding a new gallery space. Now is just not the right time. Things may look very different in a year, or we may still be in the midst of this pandemic—who knows! What we all agree on is that we want the best chance for the new gallery to be successful—opening and then having to close again would just be so disheartening for all involved. I know this is not the news most of you were hoping to hear and I’m sorry for that. Please feel free to contact me or any of the Board members if you have questions/concerns/thoughts about this. I look forward to seeing everyone again at our March 14th meeting! Same time and place: The Pioneer Center basement meeting room from 7-8:30pm. Come with lots of ideas about what you want from your TRAG membership this year. As always, we welcome and encourage involvement from all the members for any activity/event that we plan. Survey about in person meeting on January 10th, 2022
Dear Members of TRAG,
Once again we are faced with whether or not it is safe to meet in person. As you know, my number one goal for TRAG for this year is to REUNITE our community in person. I have been watching the numbers of Covid cases in our state over this week and the number yesterday was almost double that of the number on Monday. I haven’t seen today’s number yet.
Given that we are not asking for proof of vaccination at our meetings (I have heard from some members that they feel strongly that we should NOT ask for proof of vaccination), that overall we are an “older” group of people, and that I am a retired nurse, I really worry about us meeting in person.
I’d like feedback from the membership to make the decision on whether we should meet in person in January or not. If we do not meet, I recommend that we try again in February. We will not do a Zoom meeting since the plan for the meeting was to socialize in person – I have nothing else planned at this time.
Please answer the following questions ASAP.

First TRAG Member Meeting since March 2020! We’ll have a very brief business meeting, introduce the new board members, and then have a short discussion on the future of TRAG and what we want to focus on in 2021. Come with your ideas. THEN……we’ll have a time to socialize and get to know one another again.
We really hope to see you there. Masks (worn over the nose and mouth) required. Please do not come if you feel ill.

[CANCELED] January 10th, 2022 In-person Guild Meeting: Brainstorming Ideas for the Future of TRAG
Updated January 8th, 2022: based on the results of the membership survey, the January 10th general meeting has been canceled. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!
We will be returning to in-person meetings starting in January!! Our first meeting, on Monday January 10th, will be at the Pioneer Center basement meeting room from 7-8:30 pm. We will have a very short business meeting and then spend a bit of time brainstorming ideas for the future of TRAG.
I would appreciate it if people could think about the following things and bring your ideas with you on January 10th:
1. Would you be interested in changing the TRAG member meeting time to a Saturday from 10am-12:30pm or 1;00pm? This would allow for longer presentations/art workshops; allow members who are not able to drive at night to attend; more social time to connect with fellow artists. The schedule would be:
10-10:15–Socialize
10:15-10:45 (MAX!)–Business meeting
10:45-12:30–Program (workshop and/or presentation)
12:30-1:00–Sharing of art brought in by members (critique if desired)
2. Presentations/workshops you would like to see offered.
3. How important is it to you to have a Gallery associated with TRAG? Would you be willing to participate on a committee to work on finding a new Gallery space?
4. Would you be interested in having a fundraising Gala/silent auction this year?
5. Should we plan on having OCFOTA again this year or move that to every other year? Would you be interested in participating on the planning committee for OCFOTA if we move ahead with it this year?
Those are the things I can think of off the top of my head. We can have some discussion about these items, but the goal of the January meeting is to RECONNECT with each other!! There will be large post-it presentation pads around the room that you can write your suggestions on as you are socializing with others. The board will take the ideas you write down and make plans for this coming year.
I’m excited to be the President starting in January and am looking forward to a year of reconnection with members.
NOTE:
We will be following the CDC Guidelines and the current mandates put in place by our governor in order to keep everyone safe. Masks will be required and must be worn over your mouth and nose at ALL times while in the meeting. We ask that if you have any ill symptoms, that you not attend the meeting.
I hope you have a great holiday season, and I look forward to seeing you at the meeting in January.
